Summarizing a recording made outside Kin

Kin builds a summary from a visit it records itself. It can't summarize a recording you made with another app, like Voice Memos, and there's no way to hand Kin an audio file and get a summary back.

Can I play the recording to Kin?

You could play it out loud while Kin records, but Kin isn't built for that. Audio played through a speaker is harder to make out than a conversation in the room, so the summary may miss things or get them wrong. We don't recommend it.

Can I still keep the recording in Kin?

Yes. Open the visit, scroll to Attachments, tap Files, and choose the audio file. It saves with that visit, so you'll find it in that person's Records. Kin keeps the file as it is and doesn't turn it into a summary or next steps. See Adding notes, photos, and documents.

What can I do instead?

  • Write down what you remember while it's fresh. Open the visit and type it in the Notes field, so it stays with the visit.
  • Next time, tap the round record button before you walk in. Kin keeps recording with the screen locked and leaves out the parts that aren't the visit. See Recording a visit.
