# Kin

> Kin is a free, privacy-first app that helps patients remember and act on what happens at their doctor visits.

Kin records doctor visits, turns them into clear summaries with next steps, and helps patients keep their care circle in the loop. Up to 80% of what patients are told is forgotten within minutes of leaving the exam room — Kin gives patients a clear record of every visit so they know what to do next.

Founded by physicians Arpan Parikh, MD, MBA and Amit Parikh, MD, alongside engineering leader Kyle Alwyn (co-founder of HeyDoctor, acquired by GoodRx). Founding partners: Doug Hirsch and Trevor Bezdek (co-founders of GoodRx).

## Who it's for

Patients managing their own care, family members or caregivers helping a loved one, and pet owners keeping track of vet visits. Kin works with any doctor or specialist, and can be particularly useful if you have a lot of repeat visits, specialist appointments, or manage care for someone else. Kin is often used during pregnancy check-ups, child well visits, and chronic illness checkups.

- Record: Patients start and control the recording of their own doctor visit on their phone; nothing is captured without their action.
- Summaries: Kin turns the recording into a clear summary of what was discussed, with action items and next steps.
- Sharing: Patients can share visit summaries with a trusted Care Circle of family or caregivers, with role-based permissions.
- Calendar sync: Kin can detect upcoming doctor appointments from a patient's calendar and remind them ahead of time.
- Visit prep: Patients can note questions before a visit so nothing gets missed.

## Privacy

Private by design. Recording is always patient-initiated, summaries stay private unless the patient chooses to share them, and patients can delete their data at any time. Kin is not a covered entity under HIPAA but holds itself to the same standard: patients own their data, and Kin does not share, sell, or access it without their knowledge.
